Microsoft 365 backup
Most schools now keep their most important work in Microsoft 365: staff email, shared drives in SharePoint and Teams, and personal files in OneDrive. Many assume Microsoft backs all of this up for them. It doesn’t, at least not in the way most schools expect.
Microsoft keeps the service running, but looking after your data is your responsibility. Deleted files and emails are only kept for a limited time before they are gone for good, and if an account is compromised or hit by ransomware, the damage syncs straight into the cloud.
Our Microsoft 365 backup takes independent copies of your data and stores them separately from your Microsoft 365 tenant. It covers:
- Email: every mailbox, including folders, attachments, calendars and contacts
- OneDrive: each user’s files and folders
- SharePoint: your sites and document libraries, including the files behind Microsoft Teams
If something is deleted, overwritten or encrypted, we can restore a single email, a file, a folder or a whole account back to how it was, even if the loss isn’t noticed for months. It also means a member of staff leaving doesn’t mean losing their mailbox and files.
Server backup
Your on-site servers hold your file shares, applications and often your MIS data. We back them up to secure cloud storage, away from your school building, so a fire, flood, theft or ransomware attack on site doesn’t take your backups with it.
Backups are monitored by our team, so a failed backup is spotted and fixed rather than discovered when you need it. For the fastest possible recovery on site, server backup pairs with our Learning Continuity service.
Endpoint backup
Plenty of important work never makes it to the server: lesson plans saved to a desktop, reports on a head teacher’s laptop, files on devices that go home every night. Endpoint backup protects staff laptops and desktops automatically in the background, wherever they are being used, so a lost, stolen or failed device doesn’t mean lost work.
Supporting the DfE cyber security standards
The DfE’s cyber security standards for schools and colleges expect schools to keep backups of their important data, including at least one copy away from the school, and to test that they can be restored. Our cloud backup gives you that off-site copy, monitored by our team.
